I just told a boy I like him and…. nothing.
He said nothing.

I’m going to be writing a piece on how I have gone from a Kevin Smith fan to being put off and uninterested in Kevin Smith. If you have any thoughts you’d like to share, or if you feel the same way, please feel free to share them here. To give you a little more to go on, I’m going to be listening to his SModcast shows. I’ll be approaching the piece from the angle of...

Here’s the thing: I don’t really care about Amy Winehouse’s death. Absolutely, it is sad to see a talented person die at an early age (also: my current age). What has my panties in a twist is the camp of people who say, “she made the choice to die.” I don’t think these people quite have a grasp on what an addiction is. Addiction rewires the pleasure centers of...
I am interviewing podcasters via email.
My 8,888th tweet was, “It’s good to be open-minded about inevitable cannibalism.” We need a new synonym for “podcast.” Boy howdy, I can only rotate the words “podcast,” “show,” and “episode” so many times. In order to install my wireless router, we have to buy a different modem. So of course...

I know you like podcasts. You’re young and hip; you are into entertainment and technology. Presumably, you are wearing plaid shirt at the moment, or at least own one. So, are you listening to Stop Podcasting Yourself? The show is hosted by two very funny Canadians, Dave Shumka and Graham Clark. Look, I know Canada is a little strange to you. They’re like that second cousin you see...
My older sister is totally falling apart over Dad’s death. Not the sad, crying falling apart, but manic, anxious falling apart.

Fuck yeah Julie Klausner. Nothing drives me more nuts than people actively stunting themselves. If you have a tumblr, guess what, your life isn’t that bad, stop being a coward and be an adult. It doesn’t mean you can’t own a Gargoyles t shirt and love Harry Potter, but you have to make personal advances - you owe it to your parents and to your future...

– On Grief and Grieving by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross & David Kessler. I am having trouble finding a book that is both helpful & humorous on the subject of loss. Apparently I must write one.

I love to travel and I recently found out that every city with a population of over 100,000 is required to have an official motto. I looked a bunch of them up online and thought I’d share a few with you.

Dad has had a couple of strokes. He’s blind. The part of his brain that controls his heart function was damaged by a stroke. They’re taking him off the ventilator tonight. I’m at the hospital & said my goodbyes. This is very difficult.

Mind-numbingly frustrating human interaction
Tonight on my way home from work I stopped and bought Doug Benson tickets. Back in January I had seen Brian Posehn at a sister venue and when I went to purchase tickets the awesome guy behind the counter pulled up my email address and pointed out that they had sent me free tickets. So tonight I walked up to the box office & there were two girls my age who knew who Doug Benson was and one old...
